This was my 5th marathon since Spring 2008.

Email link to photos from the Monumental Marathon just came today. Overall the Indianapolis course was even and flat, with a few stretches of road full of potholes. There is one uphill stretch that is very minor from miles 15 to 18, with a nice downhill afterward.
The whole course was pretty twisty and turny, with a lot of stretches where you run across or against traffic separated by orange cones. The marathon field was around 2000, so you just can't get the whole road in these smaller races. As usual, after the half marathon split it was a ghost town. I ran close to a 3:10 pack most of the way, so there were always people in sight. Lots of water stops, which was nice.
The pre-race expo was pretty tiny, and nothing good was in the bag outside of a protein drink that I downed immediately after the race.
The weather was perfect except for the wind, which gusted and blew pretty consistently through the whole second half. I would definitely race this one again if I wanted a smaller field on a flat course.
Lesson learned to turn off auto-lap on my garmin for my next race.

Hyde Park Blast 2009 race result!
Wow! It started off pretty warm, and got hotter by the mile. I averaged a 6:38 pace over the 4 mile course, which I am happy with considering the heat and the crazy hills at miles 1.5 and 3.
